About Lainie Miller

Born in Toronto Canada, Lainie began her show biz career at the CBC on “Children’s Theater of the Air”, a dramatic radio, where she performed weekly from the age of 6 to 12. With her 13 years of classical ballet training, she went on to perform in such stage productions as “The King and I”, “Under the Yum Yum Tree”, “Hole in the Head”, “Guys and Dolls” ...
... as well as performing at the Royal Alexander in the production “Swan Lake”.

After migrating to Hollywood California, Lainie married her heartthrob, veteran actor and cult movie star Dick Miller. Not wanting to endure the problems a 2-actor family would be forced to endure, Lainie returned to school and became a Registered Nurse. As such, she worked every clinical department and quickly climbed the professional ladder until she found herself to be a director of Nurses, Associate Hospital Administrator and Chief Labor Negotiator for the Hospital with 3 labor unions: SEIU Local 399; CNA and 501 Electric. During this period, Lainie also did dispute resolution on behalf of the hospital and for a 12 years period, she performed as a malpractice expert in cases related to nursing practice and hospital administration.
Lainie’s screen credits include but are not limited to “The Graduate” , “The Legend of Lylah Claire”, “A Gift of Life”, “Club 42”, “Lola”, “Next Step Beyond”, “The Jack Kogan Show”, “the Joe Delano Show”, and “Tales from the Darkside”.
About 21 years ago, Lainie took a recess from both her health care and screen careers to explore what it meant to be behind the camera. In doing so, she began yet another career as a Script Supervisor. It didn’t take long for her union Local to realize that Lainie had been negotiating 5 years for the other side of the table, albeit in the hospital industry, and that such experience was something into which they ought to tap. So, lo and behold, Lainie became IATSE Local 871’s Business Agent where she negotiated and administered their contracts and managed their dispute resolution (grievances, mediation and arbitration). During that 10 ½ year period, Lainie also served on the Industry-wide Safety Committee and Subcommittees for child performers and stunt performers. She was a Director (Trustee) at Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans serving on both the Benefits Appeals and Administrative Committees. As though that was not enough, Lainie also served as a Labor delegate to the Los Angeles County federation of Labor and the California Federation of Labor, and was Secretary to the International (Appellate) Grievance Committee of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.
Lainie retired from her position as the Local’s business Agent and in the 2 ½ years that followed, she joined a Century City Entertainment Law Firm. There, she was a Labor Relations Specialist, and as such, she provided the attorneys with guidance in their Business Affairs and contracting activities with the Studios and Networks. At the same time, under the Firm’s umbrella, she represented Independent Producers with their labor agreements, contracting, contract compliance and dispute resolution.
Today, Lainie works for herself. As President of Autumn Rose Productions LLC, she is able to produce her own product as well as to provide a range of production services to other producers. Among her most recent endeavors she was co-executive producer on “The Perfect Game” and producer of “That Guy Dick Miller”. She also wrote “Good Old Gals”.
